Gloucester Concordes Programs / Groups

The Gloucester Concordes offers four main programs or groups for different levels and age groups. Select the program from the menu options to view the various options. The groups are: Novice, Intermediate, Advanced and Masters.

Group Assignments and Advancements

The coaches assess the skaters and will recommend which group they should be placed in, and when changes are to be made. This is done in consultation with the parents.

The coaches are guided by the objective of creating a fun environment for all children. The skating groups are coed and the skaters change together in the same dressing rooms for practices and meets.

The Concordes Speed Skating Club philosophy is that elite glory for youngsters does more harm than good. Thirty children who come in 10 th with a great attitude are worth more by far than one child who places first with unsportsmanlike behavior. Although we race a lot, it is because racing is fun. The club strongly encourages this philosophy of surpassing one’s Personal Best rather that placement during races.
