Competitive 'A' Program

Program Outline:

A periodized program will be offered. It is suggested that skaters be on-ice 3-4 times per week either in Inter club (Tuesday and/or Thursday evenings in Kanata), Ray Friel Program (Tuesdays 3:30-5:00 p.m.) or Louis Riel Sports Études program, (Monday and Thursday during the school day)

Monday club practice will begin at 7 p.m. with off ice training to include technical and physical development training.

Wednesday standard 2-hour program

Thursday or Friday or Saturday and additional off ice training program for Competitive “A” skaters will be offered.

Skill focus will be from the following list and will be adjusted to suit the development needs of the group.

  1. Balance
  2. Edge control
  3. Cross-over/corner
  4. Agility
  5. Starts
  6. Introduction to Training Laps
  7. Track patterns/counting steps
  8. Passing
  9. Relay
  10. Decision type training/obstacle course

No Ice on December 19th Skaters are requested to assist with mini-meet.

Skaters will be encourage to skate Long Track.
